A Simple Plan: Sales

Generator Services and How They Work

You may think that your building can take power outages by having a backup generator that stands by. But then, like all machines need, generators need maintenance to avoid power outage when you need it.

Parts of the generator and liquid reservoirs are organized through parts checking before power outage happens. This type of service cost less if done regularly. To assure that it sufficiently provides energy, generators must be tested. It is known that Emergency Power Supply System (EPSS) maintenance service provide the test for the generators. This article is about generator services, specifically test loading which makes up of instructions in using a genset or an artificial load that is useful in measuring the efficiency of the generator. It is better to resort to an independent generators service than to a generator manufacturer if you are looking for these services. An advantage of an EPSS service aside from being cheaper and faster is that, it focuses on the testing and the maintenance of the generators, while manufacturers focus on generator sales and how to improve their products.

Free consultations are offered by generator service providers for emergency power systems, which are needed especially for level 1 generators.

Load testings are needed to know the efficiency of generators, whether they operate in the nameplate kilowatt ratings. To do the first line of load testing, guidelines from the National Fire Protection Association code 110 must be followed as a monthly test is performed. The genset must work successfully under existing load and either it operates at least at 30% of its minimum kilowatt rating or achieve the least exhaust gas temperature in order to pass the monthly testing. If not achieved, NFPA 110 imposes that the generator needs to be tested yearly with artificial load that need load bank.

The good thing is that, load banking test increases the efficiency of the generator. At the same time, it can also fix the problem of wet-stacking, which causes unburned fuels to be trapped in the exhaust of the generator. Load banks causes fuel to evaporate when the generator operates at a certain percentage of its nameplate kilowatt rating. Parts of the generator are affected when unburned fuels do not evaporate.

Monthly, yearly, or triennial generator services can be conducted. It is better to consult for an emergency power testing before a power outage happens.

Owning a generator can maintain your business and save it from power outages. Checking and maintaining your generator can allow it to be efficient in its job in saving you from power outages no matter what kind of generator you have.
